February 2026 Training Course Calendar

Our schedule of February safeguarding training courses is filling up. Packed with practical, engaging sessions designed especially for DSLs and senior leaders, each course delivers clear strategies, up-to-date insights, and real-world guidance to help you confidently navigate safeguarding challenges in your setting.

Great training, ordinarily a challenge for it to be effective online rather than in person. However it was delivered in a really engaging way and I definitely picked up some good tips for daily practice.

Safeguarding and Inspection

2 February 2026

Inspection is taking a higher profile than ever within the construct of the running of an education setting. This session will explore key themes in relation to safeguarding which have come into focus for this academic year and the importance of evidencing a robust , secure safeguarding culture within your setting together with the challenges in doing so.

This training provides colleagues with the opportunity to explore:

  • Developing a whole school approach

  • Managing and monitoring culture

  • Currents issues in safeguarding

  • Aligning with KCSIE

  • Thinking strategically

New to the Role - DSL Training

11 February 2026

KCSIE states that “The designated safeguarding lead should take lead responsibility for safeguarding and child protection” and that “the role of the designated safeguarding lead carries a significant level of responsibility”.

This New to the Role - DSL Training programme seeks to support newly appointed Designated Safeguarding Leads and Deputies so that they are confident in taking on this important responsibility. The programme incorporates one and a half day training to underpin knowledge and skills, followed up by a further half day workshop which focuses on a review of practice and knowledge and opportunity for reflection, feeding into the reflective lessons learned thread of a safeguarding culture.

As a Designated Safeguarding Lead (or Deputy) attending this programme, you will:

  • Understand the importance of your role and responsibilities in ensuring their setting meets statutory requirements and Ofsted expectations.

  • Develop your knowledge and skills so that you can carry out your role effectively, including recognising, responding, and recording all levels of concern, including allegations made about staff.

  • Understand the safeguarding and child protection process

  • Recognise the importance of developing a whole school approach to safeguarding

  • Recognise the importance of maintaining personal wellbeing, and the strategies to do so.

Safeguarding Supervison

This highly popular 12-hour course helps structure and approach supervision using an established supervision model to enable supervisors to empower staff and focus on the experience and progress of children and young people in their care.

Aims and objectives:

  • Understand the principles behind supervision models.

  • Recognise and apply reflective supervision.

  • Undertake dynamic risk assessment during supervision.

  • Create clear, focused and reviewable plans and action.

Effective Referrals to Children's Services

Making referrals is central to the role of DSL. It is a key responsibility outlined in the DSL’s job description in early years settings, schools and colleges in Keeping Children Safe in Education.

Although a vital part of the DSL’s role, making referrals and sharing concerns can be difficult, and as such, the referral stage is recognised to be a vulnerable point in the process. This course provides an insight into the issues that exist within the process and the wider context of social care, and is designed to build staff confidence in writing an effective referral to children’s services.

This course enable staff to:

  • Develop a structured approach​ to referral writing

  • Understand the legal framework and their responsibilities

  • Show empathy, curiosity, confidence and develop a learning culture

  • Understand the use of tools in risk assessment​ and evidence risk

  • Encourage open communication & feedback loops/escalation

  • Gain a shared understanding of pressures​
