Bookkeeper

Safeguarding Network and its sister company Dialogue are flexible and exciting companies providing safeguarding support and training to organisations working with children and adults at risk. We work as a team supporting one another and the Bookkeeper is at the centre of core operations.

In this position the Bookkeeper will work as part of our team to provide financial support to the Senior Administrator in the first instance but also to the Senior Leadership Team. You will be trained in all aspects of position and provide an effective and efficient service to contribute to the smooth running of the office.

This is a part time role set at 3 days / 22.5hours per week, with option of flexible working including the potential for term time only working for the successful applicant.  It is expected that the successful applicant will work a minimum of 1 day per week at our offices located on the Dartington Hall Estate, with rest of time working remotely.  This may vary due to external factors and work demands.  Office based hours are agreed in consultation with the Senior Administrator.

Job Purpose

  • To assist the Senior Administrator and other Team members with a range of financial duties in enabling the delivery of excellent levels of service to clients and partners.
  • Supporting the wider company to increase our footprint within the education sector and achieving our aim of becoming the leading provider of safeguarding services to this sector.
  • Using product knowledge, offer a supportive and helpful approach to education and other settings enabling them to get the most out of their membership.
  • Promote and maintain a positive and friendly company image by acting as one of the first lines of contact to customers, partners, and vendors in person, online, and via telephone.

Duties of role

  • Work closely with the Senior Administrator and Senior Leadership Team to effectively manage the finance processes within the company and ensure all internal targets are met through provision of reports as required.
  • Use our accounting platform QuickBooks to manage products and raise invoices in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Processing payments, invoices, income and receipts and entering data into accounting software and other databases where required.
  • Undertake regular account reconciliation, ensuring income and expenditure is correctly allocated.
  • Undertake proactive credit control to ensure the overdue invoices are kept to a minimum and followed up where necessary, keeping senior management updated. This will include being proactive in contacting customers by a variety of means (phone, email, etc.).
  • Assist in preparation of reports and returns as necessary.
  • Arranging for payment of vendor invoices and refunds where required.
  • Managing employee expense claims.
  • Assist the general day to day running of the company, for example answering calls where required and working as part of the wider administration team.
  • Additional duties as required, including similar support for our sister company, dialogue, when required.

The successful applicant will be expected and supported to undergo training, at their pace, to upskill and learn new tasks to further support the company and their own development.

Skills and qualifications for role

Essential:

  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
  • Excellent time management.
  • Knowledge of accounting platforms and Microsoft office programs.
  • Strong prioritisation and organisation skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Strong record keeping skills.
  • Confident, keen and enthusiastic.
  • Ability to multitask & be creative.

Desirable:

  • Experience in bookkeeping and finance.
  • Prior credit control experience & exceptional communication skills
  • Using the zoom / Microsoft team’s platform
  • Knowledge of education settings and safeguarding an advantage

Associate Safeguarding Consultant

Due to Safeguarding Network’s growth, we are seeking associate Safeguarding Consultants with a strong (& recent) education & senior leadership background to join our expanding team! We wish to continue providing the best service & meeting the demand for our members and feel that increasing our associate base is a way of increasing our safeguarding expertise.

Reporting to Supervision Service Manager our highly experienced Safeguarding Consultants will build relationships with and provide external safeguarding supervision to Designated Safeguarding Leads and other key personnel, deliver training and undertake quality assurance work. Safeguarding Consultants will possess a strong safeguarding track record with experience of senior safeguarding roles (e.g. DSL in several different settings, child protection team manager or chair, Trust DSL and similar), a relevant qualification, either experience or a strong working knowledge of education settings and demonstrate a passion and belief in the rights of children and young people.

Not looking for a full-time role?  We are also happy to offer independent practitioners the opportunity to work as safeguarding consultants on an ad hoc consultancy basis. If you are interested in the consultancy role you’ll need to have other sources of income and view this role as part of a wider portfolio.
