Free KCSiE Safeguarding Update and Changes Webinars
KCSIE 2026 will come into force on 1 September 2026. The department’s ‘for information’ versions are intended to provide schools with details on the changes in advance of the implementation date.
The changes to KCSiE this year are the most significant for several years, including changes brought about by Working Together to Safeguard Children 2026 and the enactment of the Children’s Wellbeing & Schools Act. It also integrates the much-awaited guidance around children who are questioning their gender.
There are also changes in relation to
what information all staff in schools and colleges are expected to know
how settings should understand online harms, including those involving AI
the identification and prevention of child-on-child abuse

Children questioning their gender guidance has been incorporated into Keeping Children Safe in Education 2026 for consultation. DSLs will be taking significant responsibility in this area and once the guidance has been issued in September Safeguarding Network will be providing careful and balanced support on implementation. Early Years Safeguarding Update 2026: Understanding the Changes to KCSiE and EYFS: 22nd September, 4pm - 5pm
The safeguarding landscape continues to evolve, and September 2026 brings important changes for early years providers. This practical webinar will guide leaders, designated safeguarding leads (DSLs), managers and practitioners through the latest updates to Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework, helping you understand not only what has changed, but what those changes mean in practice.

An overview of the September 2026 changes to KCSIE and the EYFS.
What the changes mean for early years leaders, DSLs and practitioners.

Insights into affluent neglect: 15th October, 4pm - 5pm
Affluent neglect can often sit outside the thinking of professionals in respect of harm, not fitting the commonly held stereotypical views that neglect must be associated with poverty. This can mean that harm to the child can be overlooked and subsumed by the professionals into their relationships with the parents. It can be difficult to spot and equally challenging to deal with.
This session will :
give an overview of the context of affluent neglect
discuss key indicators
highlight the challenges faced by professionals in addressing the concerns with parents / carers.

DBS Checks - what you need to know: 20th October, 12pm - 1.30pm
DBS checks are a key component of the Safer Recruitment process and within the guidance there is a clarity around who, when, why those in job roles should have a check undertaken and at what level.
However, there can also be a level of “urban mythology” around levels, sighting of checks and GDPR.
