Now a statutory requirement, all school governors are required to access safeguarding training. We have designed this interactive course to provide overview of safeguarding in education for the role of a school governor with opportunities to connect with colleagues and learn together about the crucial role schools play in safeguarding children and how your role supports this.

Presenter

Sharon Hand is an experienced safeguarding professional with 17 years in safeguarding in education in addition to 15 years in local authority social care settings.

She has worked front line as a DSL, including across an academy trust as Senior DSL. 

She is an experienced trainer, Senior Mental Health Lead and Designated Person for Children in Care. 

Prior to joining the Safeguarding Network she worked in an advisory capacity for DSLs, SLT  and a Virtual School.


Aims and objectives:

  • Understand your role as a school governor in relation to safeguarding

  • Know key guidance and legislation in relation to safeguarding in education

  • Identify indicators of abuse/neglect

  • Develop awareness of responding to concerns over professional adults

What you need to know to attend:

This 2 hour course will be delivered over Zoom between 6:00pm and 8:00pm. Registration will open at 5:45pm.
