The hidden battle with allergies
Run by our friends at Anaphylaxis UK, Anaphylaxis Awareness Week 2025 kicks off today focusing on the emotional challenges of living with allergies, with an emphasis this year on the importance of trusted information and support to help calm the emotional impact of living with allergies. The week helps to raise awareness and educate people on the seriousness of anaphylaxis and serious allergies, whilst showing those affected that they are not alone on this journey.
Please help spread the message by supporting #WearItBright and #TheHiddenBattleWithAllergies. Anaphylaxis UK have produced a Toolkit where you’ll find more information on the theme, as well as resources and practical tips to help you get involved.
Safeguarding and data protection
Understand the legal landscape and best practice for sharing personal data without breaching the UK GDPR. In this article, Firebird, a data protection consultancy, explores the relationship between safeguarding and data protection legislation.
Safeguarding and the data protection legislation are sometimes seen as pulling in different directions - but they actually work hand in hand. The data protection legislation does not stand in the way of sharing information to keep children safe. When done appropriately, it supports professionals in doing the right thing to protect children and young people from harm.

Mental health services ‘widely inaccessible’ for schools
Recent National Foundation for Educational Research (NEFR) findings from the June 2025 Teacher Voice Omnibus reveal that an estimated 25% of pupils required extra support for general wellbeing, mental health, and to access learning and social/extra-curricular activities in 2024/25. Access to other key services, including local authority education services, physical health services such as healthcare professionals, and external SEND expertise is also “uneven” across the country.
DSM Foundation updated PSHE resources for 2025-26
DSM Foundation, the drug education charity, offer high-quality, evidence-based resources that help teachers deliver effective drug and alcohol education lessons as part of Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) / Personal, Social Education (PSE). These evidence-based resources are completely free to download and are reviewed and updated annually.
