Anti-Bullying and Behaviour Toolkit 2025/26

The Department for Education (DfE) have announced the intention to commission a review into the best ways to improve behaviour, reduce “preventable” exclusions and stop bullying in schools. It is planned that the review will lead to an evidence-based toolkit for education settings to use to address these interrelated issues.

The DfE preventing bullying guidance was last updated 8 years ago and for the DSLs we work with, behaviour is an increasing concern. We know that those who work with extra-familial harm link exclusion with increased risk. It seems like a welcome move for the DfE to seek to identify and embed best practice across a really important part of our children’s educational experience.

It will be interesting to see what the review identifies and how holistically the issues are considered.

In the meantime, we have updated our bullying and hate crime materials only last month and we have considered new and emerging issues alongside whole-school approaches and partnership with parents and carers.
