November DSL Resources

After the excitement of Halloween we're exploring peer-on-peer abuse this month. This has been a specific area of focus for schools inspected under the September 2019 framework.

Our CPD document this month is a 20 minute read on going to court and giving evidence.

Free term's subscription?

We've had so much positive feedback and would love to have your help in getting the word out to other DSLs. If you're part of a network or forum of 10 or more schools we are more than happy to visit and showcase Safeguarding Network. In return for your efforts we will waive your membership fee the following term.

To add value we are also happy to deliver a presentation on a key safeguarding topic such as managing allegations about staff and volunteers. Contact us for more information.

Reminder

How have you demonstrated the impact of the safeguarding training you have delivered to your staff? Think particularly about administrative staff, grounds/maintenance, NQTs, new joiners, senior leaders, pastoral, counsellors etc.

Don't forget our online knowledge check for your staff.

Resources

This month's training examines peer-on-peer abuse. This is a focus area for Ofsted who noted all schools who highlighted to this area in Easter 2019:

  • a presentation and notes
  • a quiz and answers
  • a handout
  • scenarios for primary, secondary and care settings.

COMING SOON - later this month we'll launch an online learning session on Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment ... 99p per member of staff. Contact us for early bird booking.

Your CPD

This month's 20 minute Safeguarding Insight sets out a basic understanding of courts, the do's and don'ts and how your approach can have significant implications for a court case.

Planning ahead...

Planning for Christmas is essential in the safeguarding calendar. You'll be thinking already what some of your most vulnerable young people might need from your setting. The training materials will reflect the diverse experiences of young people at this time of year with a focus on neglect.
